I am descended from a Joseph Wells of Nottingham who begat my great-grandfather George Wells born 1831.
My great-grandfather was a bit of a lad, notorious for repeated thefts from building sites, leading to his transportation to Western australia on the prison ship Parmelia in 1857. Thereafter he was given a ticket of leave and settled down on an orchard near Northhampton WA, about 40 km from Geraldton WA, from which my father’s side of the family came.
